Position Description

This position is dedicated to the thought and implementation of the developing Student Giving Initiative, which is Provost supported. The Project Manager is responsible for the successful and timely execution and implementation of both and is vital in the creation of the Student Giving Initiative. This position works directly with the Associate Director for Student Philanthropy in informing and identifying the tactical needs and goals and is then held accountable for achieving them by building collaborative and meaningful relationships with campus stakeholders and other OUD partners. Particularly imperative is the partnership with all strategic and tactical activities in Student and Recent Grad Giving align and support the philanthropic educational and outreach priorities of the institution.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

Strategy: 35%
* Works with the Associate Director of Student Philanthropy to develop yearly marketing plans, imbuing the strategy with informed experiences and peer learnings
* Supports the Student Philanthropy team with campus stakeholder integration efforts for educational outreach including the Philanthropic Tours, Admissions scripting and overall U-M Ambassadors program
* Builds relationships across campus to research and create opportunities for a comprehensive U-Wide Student Giving program
* Reports on and represents Student Giving Initiative success

Creative and Project Management and Coordination: 35%
* Responsible for the creative, on time, on strategy delivery of all program tactics including web, print, phone, DM, video and events
* Secures all creative elements and assets
* Reviews and ensures creative and branding linkage between the student giving tactics and the recent grad
* Works with multiple designers and creative sources to develop and manage the execution of the deliverables
* Demonstrates ingenuity and creative intuitiveness, bringing new ideas and solutions

Research, Assessment and Measurement: 30%
* Works internally and with outside vendors to execute all market research for the initiatives including but not limited to creative and message testing as well as particular giving tactics
* Specifically responsible for the creation, fielding and results reporting of an annual student survey in conjunction with campus partners
* Polls, assesses and surveys the U-M campus community in conjunction with the SPCC, to record and publish best practices across the community
* Develops relationships and contacts with peer institutions to provide comparative statistics and performance reviews quarterly
* Develops and presents consistent monthly and special reporting on internal key performance indicators

Additional Duties:
* Completes other projects and duties as assigned.

Supervises directly: D-SIP Intern, Student Worker as necessary

Required Qualifications

* Baccalaureate degree required and 3-5 years work experience in Student Affairs, marketing, promotions or similar field
* Excellent oral and written communications skills.
* Working knowledge of personal computers, word processing, and spreadsheets.
* Agency account experience or similar project management experience
* Experience in team environment and strong interpersonal skills.
* Demonstrated leadership ability to develop strategic plans, implement programs, organize, initiate, and motivate staff and interact successfully with faculty and academic leaders.
* High-level experience with social networking tools (such as Facebook, Twitter, InCircle, MySpace, LinkedIn, etc.). Ability to develop and implement applications within the applications.
* Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a team environment.
* Proven success working in complex environments
* Demonstrated self-starter
* Careful attention to detail
* Strong organization skills

Preferred Qualifications

* Master degree desired.
* An ability and willingness to quickly learn the University history, mission, demographics, faculty, current programs, departments, etc., as well as the University culture to be able to persuasively articulate how Michigan distinguishes itself from peer institutions.
* Passion and appreciation for the role philanthropy plays within public institutions of higher education and society as a whole.
