Telefund

At Michigan Telefund, student fundraisers call on alumni, parents, and friends to stay engaged with the university and to financially support a wide range of scholarships, academic programs, research initiatives, and more at U-M.

What We Do

As part of the Office of Annual Giving, Telefund workers are responsible for raising more than $1 million in gifts each year for schools, colleges, and non degree granting partners across the Ann Arbor, Dearborn, and Flint campuses. Michigan Telefund has served our community with part-time fundraising jobs and philanthropic education since 1992.

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

Are Telefund Student Fundraisers trained?

Before they begin working, team members complete two comprehensive orientation sessions that help them understand the Telefund culture and equip them with necessary job skills and knowledge. Team members also participate in multiple professional development training sessions throughout the year.

Is Telefund telemarketing?

No. Calling U-M alumni is one part of maintaining connections and building relationships with the university. Telefund workers update contact information, answer questions, have interesting conversations, and hope to secure financial support for the university as well.

What makes Telefund successful?

Telefund helps students become successful through personal and professional development. We support a positive and community-focused work environment to foster success on the job. Telefund is successful every time a student speaks with someone, whether or not they make a donation. The conversations build relationships and give students a learning opportunity.
