Center for Chinese Studies Strategic Fund ‑ 316273

Gifts will be used to support the center’s priorities, including the study and experience of Chinese arts and culture. The faculty experts at LRCCS lead teaching and research on Chinese arts and culture, including literature, film, food, theater, traditional Chinese medicine, Chinese opera, art, and dance. Just last fall (2023), LRCCS spearheaded the Festival of Asian Music in partnership with multiple units across campus. Over 20 performances and master classes allowed U-M students, faculty, and the public to connect with master artists and scholars on today’s global stage.

"As we are discussing immigration in my U.S. History class, I tied some of the performances to the fact that no matter where we go and for how long, we carry our ancestry, our heritage, our traditions with us, and we should celebrate that." Jason Dougherty, high school teacher, Warren, MI
