Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease among children in the U.S. Each year, more than 15,000 kids are diagnosed with cancer, and 1 out 5 of them will not survive. Research studies can uncover new ways to prevent, treat, and cure childhood cancers. However, the percentage of federal funding granted to pediatric cancer research studies remains in the single digits.
Children battling cancer deserve more effective therapies, improved outcomes, fewer harmful side effects, and more hope. That’s why we fundraise year-round to support our Block Out Cancer campaign. This vital effort is ongoing throughout the year and culminates in a big push during September’s National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
Your support fuels critical research and programs for pediatric cancer patients and families at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. Funds raised by our Block Out Cancer campaign are used to address the greatest needs of our pediatric oncology program.
Donations go toward research and patient care initiatives that receive little attention from traditional funding sources. They enable the start-up of innovative programs designed to improve patient outcomes and quality of life. They also make our comfort and support services for patients and families possible. Every year, the support of generous donors, businesses, volunteers, and community groups pushes us forward in our goal to block out cancer and provides encouragement to patients at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. This widespread involvement is helping expand our personalized approach to care, increase survival rates, and enhance treatments. We hope you will join the cause.
