Dr. Maggie Rossman was a beloved sister, daughter, wife, mother, aunt, friend, and educator. She made the world a better place in the short time she had here.

She was a professor at Bellarmine University where she taught media and communication. She was adored by all her students for her compassion, passion, and understanding. She was a scholar on media, particularly women and gender studies with a focus on girlhood. She was adamant that society often dismisses young girls and their emotions, and focused on respecting and unveiling these lived experiences. She believed there was a critical need to reframe the dominant narratives surrounding adolescent girls and their place in society. She was ahead of her time in research on fandom focused on Taylor Swift and how fans mediate their experiences and identities through their fandom. Maggie also loved the University of Michigan. She was the world's biggest UofM football fan (and basketball, too). She could name every single stat of every player, every season, from memory. She also loved the Matthaei Botanical Gardens & Nichols Arboretum in Ann Arbor. She was president of her high school's nature club, ReLeaf, and always believed in supporting our green spaces. I believe she would be honored to have contributions in her name made to the Arb.
