Support aspiring occupational therapists and the first fully accredited doctoral program for occupational therapy in the state of Michigan.
Occupational Therapy (OT) students at UM-Flint benefit from collaborative, interdisciplinary learning with peers in physical therapy, nursing, and other health professions. Our vital partnership with Michigan Medicine provides hands-on learning opportunities and access to world-renowned guest lecturers. The OTD program empowers students with the skills and knowledge needed to help individuals with injuries or disabilities lead more independent lives.
As the state’s first entry-level OTD program, UM-Flint offers a three-year path to a doctoral degree that is both affordable—without additional course fees—and accessible to students with a baccalaureate degree but no prior clinical experience. Students gain valuable experience by working alongside physical therapy and nursing students at HEART, the College of Health Sciences’ pro bono health clinic, and have the chance to apply for paid student research internships.
Your support enables us to provide essential funding for student research, clinical placements, lab equipment, and professional development workshops. These resources ensure that OTD students receive the hands-on experience and professional connections necessary to excel as future leaders in occupational therapy.
